Oct 23rd - Ride for Dad cheque presentation
Please join us on October 23rd at 1:00 in the Thompson room as we welcome representatives from Manitoba Ride for Dad and Manitoba Lotteries in presenting Dr Sabine Mai with a cheque for $50,000 to support her research in prostate cancer. This grant money was raised by over 800 Manitoba motorcycle enthusiasts during their annual ride to Gimli. Dr Mai's project is in collaboration with Dr Darrel Drachenberg and Dr Jeff Saranchuk from CancerCare Manitoba's Prostate Centre.

Oct 24th - 2012 Canada Gairdner Distinguished Lecture
Oct 24th - Dr Howard Cedar, Professor of Molecular Biology at Hebrew University in Jerusalem and "father of epigenetics", will be visiting the University of Manitoba on October 24th to deliver the 2012 Canada Gairdner Distinguished Lecture at the Gaspard Theatre (BMSB) at noon.

Cell Biology Club starts again on Sept 24
Cell Biology Club begins another year with a new format.
The first speaker will be Dr Zoann Nugent, discussing the importance of biostatistics in planning and designing an experiment. Following Dr Nugent will be Dr Sabbir, discussing his latest findings from Dr Davie's lab (MICH).

September 20 - Dr Wayne Xu
Dr Wayne Xu, new research associate at MICB, will be giving a public lecture entitled "A Novel Gene Expression Signature Model For Lung Cancer Prognosis" on September 20, 10:00 - 11:00 the Theatre C (BMSB). Dr Xu is a bioinformatics specialist and adjunct professor from the University of Minnesota.
